Sunayama Beach is only 15 minutes by car from Hirara, Miyakojima City. If you climb to the top of the dunes made of sand as soft as powder snow, the beautiful scenery of the blue ocean and white sand will spread out right before your eyes. The Irabujima and Ikemajima islands can also be seen. Nearby, there are also stone arches made from marine erosion that have become famous photo spots. The place is lovely during the day, of course, but the evening sun peeking through the natural arches creates a magical sort of beauty. Many tourists visit just to see the setting sun.
