Tatadohama Beach in Shimoda City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is a long stretch of coastline known for its soft sand, warm shore and gentle waves. One of several swimming beaches on the south end of the Izu Peninsula, Tatadohama Beach is particularly famous for surfing and other marine sports. In fact, this beach is open for surfing all year round, while the area designated specifically for swimming can only be used during July and August.
