Hakkoda Ski Resort

Entertainment Outdoor Activities

The Hakkoda Ski Resort is composed of several slopes, including some long-distance courses that extend as far as seven kilometers, that stem out from Mt. Tamoyachidake's summit at the Ropeway Summit Park Station. Beginners and experts alike can enjoy courses that weave through beechwood forests outfitted with groves of rime ice. Visible from within the resort, the breathtaking scenery of the far-off Tsugaru region, Shimokita Hanto Peninsula, and Hokkaido Prefecture unfolding over the frosted trees is something only the slopes of Hakkoda has to offer.
The ski season lasts from late November through mid-May, and in some places, the hills are open for summer skiing as late as August. Plus, if you take part in a wintertime snowshoeing tour around Hakkoda, you'll have a chance to see an enormous grove of rime ice dubbed "the snow monster." Experiencing the full impact of its mysterious silhouette will be well worth the trip!
At the base of the mountain, you'll find Sukayu, the first in a long line of onsen. Here, you'll be able to warm up and relax after a long day of skiing or snowboarding.
