Heart Rock is located on the Pacific Ocean side of Amami Oshima Island, named so for the heart-shaped pool of water that appears during low tide. It's known as a power spot for romance, and it's said that if someone makes a photo of it the background display of their phone, their love will come true. The peak viewing times are about one hour before and after low tide, so make sure to check the tide chart beforehand. January through March there is a lot of sea lettuce, so the heart shape shows up especially beautifully. Plant life native to Amami grows abundantly on the path that leads to the sand beach on Heart Rock, making it feel like the scene of a movie. There are a variety of curious sights created by nature, and this is one hidden gem that can only be found on Amami.
