Inami Wood Carving Composite Hall

Art & Architecture History

The Inami Wood Carving Composite Hall is a museum in Toyama Prefecture dedicated to the traditional handiwork of the Inami region. It was modeled after the layout of Zuisen-ji Temple, which is believed to be the origin of Inami wood carvings, and it was designed to utilize natural light. The museum showcases around 200 pieces of traditional handicrafts and Inami woodworkings. There are artistic works related to Buddhism and religious temples on display, but there are also items for everyday use. Through the exhibits and information panels, the museum helps to highlight the history and craftsmanship of Inami Wood Carvings.

Inami Wood Carvings are one of the stories designated as Japan Heritage by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
