Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine

Art & Architecture History

Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine is said to have been built to quell the repeated eruptions of Mt. Fuji. A large number of cherry blossom trees are planted in the area to symbolize the enshrined Gods. Visitation to the shrine is said to be beneficial for easy childbirth, marriage, household harmony, and fire prevention. There are many things to enjoy at this site, such as the burgeoning spring water flowing from Mt. Fuji's source and the relaxing experience of walking among trees in the forest.
