The Harimaya-bashi Bridge is famous for appearing in the lyrics of a song based on a love story that has been passed down for generations in this area. The scarlet guardrails on this wooden bridge are very striking. It is said to have been first constructed in the 17th century to allow merchants to come and go. Also, several of Kochi's famous products appear in the wall clock visible from the Harimaya-bashi Bridge.
