The Miyakojima City Craft Experience Village is located inside the Miyakojima City Botanical Garden, and here there are a total of nine different workshops, including woodworking, ceramics, shellwork, local cuisine, and Miyako textiles. Each workshop provides a craft experience unique to Miyakojima Island, such as indigo dyeing, basket making with cogon grass, accessory making using cow horn or shells, kaleidoscope making, shisa lion figurine making, and sweets making with Miyakojima-raised purple potatoes. This is a spot where visitors can discover even further the charms of Miyakojima Island and learn about Miyakojima crafts and food culture through hands-on experience programs.
