Shiwagara no Taki Waterfall, a hidden gem located in Shinonsen-cho, Hyogo Prefecture, is a waterfall that flows into a cave-like space covered with moss. A drop of only about ten meters, the waterfall is fairly small, but the light that cuts through from an opening at the top of the cave and the sound of the falling water reverberating throughout creates a striking atmosphere. It's about a 40-minute hike from the parking lot to the waterfall, and in the surrounding area plenty of untouched nature can be seen, including dense trees and a bubbling brook. Some of the road is rough, so it's a good idea to wear climbing or hiking boots when visiting.
