Takenohama Beach, located in Hyogo Prefecture, is known for its beautiful, white sand and crystal-clear water. With approximately a kilometer of fine, white sand, the beach has been selected as one of the 100 Best Swimming Beaches as well as one of Japan’s Top 100 Beaches. It also boasts some of the clearest, highest quality water in the Kansai area. The water also stays shallow for a considerable distance, so it’s safe for children to play in. The middle area of the beach front is particularly shallow, and the majority of the swimming area stays at depths at which most adults can stand without difficulty. The depths do change slightly with the tides, though, so swimmers are still advised to take care.
There are also plenty of other activities at Takenohama Beach in addition to swimming, such as geo-canoeing, geo-diving, leisure cruises, and many more. In fact, there are even a number of activities that can be done when the weather is uncooperative, such as cooking on traditional kamado stoves, extracting natural salt from sea water, and more.
